operators<\/em>.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><strong>Interlocking<\/strong> <strong>access control devices<\/strong> can be extremely useful, especially when it comes to <strong>high-security applications<\/strong>.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>For those of you who might not know exactly what interlocking is, it basically means that <strong>one device will not be allowed to operate if the other device is in a certain state<\/strong>.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>An example would be interlocking a <strong>swing gate<\/strong> with a <strong>traffic barrier<\/strong>, where the barrier will not be able to raise unless the swing gate is in the fully closed position, creating sort of a vehicle trap.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">Let\u2019s look at how one would interlock a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.centsys.co.za\/?q=cproduct,8,D10\">D10<\/a> sliding gate motor with a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.centsys.co.za\/?q=cproduct,17,SECTOR\">SECTOR<\/a> high-volume traffic barrier.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>In this example, the SECTOR cannot raise when the gate with the D10 is open or opening and the D10 gate cannot open when the SECTOR is raising or raised, thus creating an effective vehicle trap.<\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-shdWgN-jChc\/TyEUbloLPjI\/AAAAAAAAACA\/K6MET55SfN0\/s1600\/interlocking.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" 10pt;\">After connecting the two controllers in the way illustrated by the\u00a0diagram above, proceed to set the following configurations on BOTH controllers:<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;\"><strong>SAFETY&gt;<\/strong><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>EXTERNAL GATE STATUS INDICATION<\/strong>&gt;<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>INDICATOR OUTPUT<\/strong> = XIO<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;\">Set the <strong>Indicator Output<\/strong> to be <strong>ON only for Closed<\/strong>, and <strong>off for all other indications<\/strong> (open, partly open, partly closed, etc.)<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;\">You now have an interlocking system.\u00a0 As soon as one operator starts opening, XIO will deactivate, in turn breaking the Lck connection and enabling Holiday Lockout &#8211; meaning that all inputs for the other operator are inhibited.\u00a0 When the operator closes again, the Lck connection to common will be re-made.<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;\">Older operators can of course also be interlocked, but requires the use of a <strong>CP78 Multi-LED
